| Michael Sheehan


Mr. Sheehan joined the Boston Globe in an advisory role in January 2014 and later that month was named CEO of the Boston Globe.

As a copywriter and creative director, Mr. Sheehan has been awarded virtually every national and international award for excellence including the Grand Clio, One Show Gold, Cannes Lion, Best of Show at Hatch and Communication Arts.

Previously, Mr. Sheehan joined Hill, Holliday as Group Creative Director in 1994, and was named executive creative director of Hill Holliday in 1996. In 1999, he joined DDB Chicago as executive creative director. A year later, he rejoined Hill Holliday as president. He was named CEO in 2003, the first nonfounder to hold that title. On May 13th, 2013 he was named Chairman of Hill Holliday until joining the Boston Globe in 2014.

Mr. Sheehan has written and overseen award-winning campaigns for many leading U.S. brands, including John Hancock, Dunkin' Donuts, Bank of America, Civdien, Liberty Mutual, McDonald's, Tyco, Fidelity Investments, Maytag, Gatorade, and Budweiser.

Mr. Sheehan attended the U.S. Naval Academy and received his B.A. in English from Saint Anselm College, where he currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He serves as the Treasuer of The One Fund Boston, on the board of directors of BJ's Wholesale Club, Inc., as well as on the boards of a number of community organizations: Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Boston, Thayer Academy, the American Ireland Fund, and Cardinal Cushing School, a school for developmentally disabled children in Hanover, MA.
